Five months after the start of lockdown in the UK, I was keen to get out and make sure the world still existed as I remembered it.

I took a short trip to Central Europe during the perceived lull between the first and second waves of Covid-19, and got home just as numbers were starting to rapidly escalate. I like to pretend I planned it perfectly and it wasn’t just dumb luck.

This short trip to Central Europe wasn’t my usual non-stop action-packed hit of adventure summer holiday, and I’d even been to most of these places before.

But I still really enjoyed it in a different way to going somewhere completely new and unique.

Taking my time in familiar places, interrailing through the countryside, gorging on schnitzel and apple strudel was, dare I say it – relaxing.

I still climbed a mountain though. Had to do something!
